![]() ![]() But there are a couple drops where you do feel the Gs which give you that slight feeling in your stomach. I'm not an expert on coasters so I don't know the correct terminology for these drops and twists. It also blows Hulk and RRR out the water in every aspect. Velocicoaster on the other hand is the best rollercoaster I've ever been on. The rest of the ride is relatively generic as far as coasters go, but the addition of it letting you play music in the seats gives it an extra edge. I'm gonna recommend that you keep your eyes open on the way up, you're almost shifting the fear of the lift rather than tackling it and that wont help with pre-ride anxiety. It's also over in seconds as it doesn't hang you up there. You fall slow and the angle isn't too steep. The first drop looks 10x more intimidating than it actually is. RRR is a bumpy ride, but tame in terms of drops. I was underwhelmed by the intensity but it was still a lot of fun! Update: rode the Hulk 2 times again, have yet to ride RRR, rode Velocicoaster 2nd row… honestly I felt that the Hulk was more intense than Velocicoaster. I’ve ridden 2 rides with lifts like that, the Fahrenheit at Hershey and the Impulse at Knoebel’s, and I close my eyes the entire way up because it’s such an uncomfortable feeling. I know I am not going to enjoy the lift on RRR. I didn’t have a single problem handling it and I really didn’t find it to be that intense. For reference about what I’ve already ridden, I’ve already ridden the Hulk coaster a handful of years ago (after refurbishment) and I absolutely loved it. I will say that I really love launch coasters because I don’t have time to think about what’s going to happen. Anyway, wondering how intense RRR and Velocicoaster are especially in terms of a dropping feeling. It was still intense but made it more bearable. I’ve since learned that screaming while going down coasters helps with the intensity because bearing down makes the drop feeling worse (when I go down hills especially, I naturally clench up and stay silent, which I have read makes it harder for my body to handle the intensity.) I tried screaming down a hill on a coaster and it really helped (the Fahrenheit at Hershey Park). The main element of coasters that make me nervous are the drops because I just don’t really handle the feeling well when going down the drop. Velocicoaster is more of a standard multi launch.I am visiting Universal Orlando from July 31st to August 4th! We have 5 full days in the park and have express passes as well! I am wondering about the intensity of RRR and Velocicoaster and what the rides feel like. 7 launches, high speed switch track, drop track, lockable restraints via Bluetooth, props, and have to link everything up to all work together. Hadgrids is probably the most technological ride in the world. They expect velocicoaster to run consistently from the get go. If Cedar Fair operated a Kings Island sized park in a warm climate year round, I'm sure Cedar Fair would look to Intamin.ĭisagree, universal rushed hadgrids top open since they had multiple resorts being filled up by potterites. As for Pantheon at BGW, I feel like they're just trying to outcompete with KD. When it comes to rides that experience downtime, the ROI is much greater for year round parks than it is for seasonal parks. Everytime a ride is down, its hitting their wallet. With a chain like Cedar Fair, they can't really afford to purchase rides that could experience maintenance issues because they're only open few months out of the year. Their parks are open year round so it hurts them less if one of their rides goes down vs if they were seasonal. Universal most likely went for Intamin because they can afford the downtime. Enthusiasts might get underwhelmed by parks that don't have Intamins or RMCs but GP, the people who make the parks the most money, could care less. ![]() The risk/reward ratio tips towards safety and reliability. Look how long Steel Vengeance was down to one train ops in 2018, look what's happening to Lightening Rod, I think even Twisted Timbers had some issues. At Cedar Point it was pretty much a given that Dragster and Maverick would experience downtime with Wicked Twister and Millennium Force always being on the table. I could not imagine what ops would be if we got an Intamin coaster. The most maintenance stricken coaster we ever had was SOB. I could see an argument for that honestly. You could say that one of the reasons why King's Island is considered better than Cedar Point by many is because it doesn't have those Intamin's and RMC's that either break down all the time or have huge maintenance issues.
